The Zug-based photo artist is currently causing a stir in Russia with a major solo exhibition.

Portraying people is the essence of Pit Bühler's artistic work. The Zug-based photographer finds his protagonists around the globe, in all walks of life. Their backgrounds are as diverse as the expressive, highly dynamic photographs that ultimately emerge and bear witness to great sensitivity. Bühler brings back fascinating images of people from foreign cultures from his extensive travels. Or he portrays Hollywood celebrities and - as recently realized - Russian veterans as well as the celebrated stars of the world-famous Bolshoi Ballet. With the focus on Pit Bühler's current project, we remain in Russia: the 44-year-old from Zug is currently represented with a large solo exhibition at the Leningrad Center, a major cultural temple in St. Petersburg. This unique opportunity has arisen for him through his collaboration with the artistic director of the center. Beforehand, Bühler had photographed artists from the Leningrad Center and subsequently shown these pictures at a group exhibition. The artistic director liked Bühler's work so much that he granted him the opportunity of a solo exhibition.   

Hollywood stars and circus performers In it, Bühler shows 40 large-format portraits from different series. In addition to actors such as Christoph Waltz, Uma Thurman, Cate Blanchett and Jeremy Irons - who also looks down from a banner the height of a house on the façade of the Leningrad Center - or the Bolshoi dancers, Bühler is exhibiting photographs of other faces from the entertainment industry. These include circus performers from Monte Carlo and Russia, which are part of an ongoing project by the Zug-based artist. «For me, it is an incredible appreciation of my work to be able to hold this solo exhibition in such an important venue,» says Pit Bühler. Russian TV stations and representatives of several newspapers were present at the vernissage and reported extensively on the creative photographic artist from Switzerland. Pit Bühler regularly realizes elaborate photo projects for national and international exhibitions. The Zug native has already received several awards for his work.
