HUMANS – What connects people.

For more than thirty years, I have encountered people who at first glance have almost nothing in common. Actors, prima ballerinas, drag queens, clowns, war veterans, artists, performers, and people on the fringes of society. At the center of my work are not their profession, their origin, or their fame. My gaze is directed toward what becomes visible beyond all of that: courage, vulnerability, dignity, defiance, longing, or hope—qualities that connect people across cultures, generations, and life stories. 

The arrangement of these portraits does not follow the external differences between people. It arises where the same human traits are found in completely different biographies. People who have never met and share nothing in common can embody the same dignity, the same courage, the same longing, or the same responsibility. Each image stands on its own and is at the same time part of a larger context.
